Schienenschleifwagen. This small engine in N scale (well, a little bigger than pure N scale) keeps rails clean thanks to a couple of spinning brushes between their wheel axels.

Since H0e gauge is the same as N (9 mm) the engine is regularly used to keep the tracks in perfect conditions.

Currently it has installed soft brushes. More variants can be easily found on eBay or made from scratch.

This little engine has been in Fleischmann catalog from 1972 to date (even with DCC fitted).

My sample was gifted to me by my grandma in 1993, despite being a quite costly toy, so it actually means much more to me than a simple little engine that nicely does its job.
